Timeline Event Scanner

Scan documents in selected directories, extract dates and locations, classify events by category (via AI or a built-in heuristic), and visualize everything on a chronological timeline plus an interactive world map.

## What’s new in v1.6

  • AI-extracted locations now appear on the world map** — when the AI identifies a city in a document’s text or summary (no GPS in the file), the scanner now does a follow-up forward-geocode call to get approximate latitude/longitude. Those coordinates are stored alongside the place name so the event shows up as a marker on the Locations tab. Previously the place name was saved but lat/lon were left empty, so nothing appeared on the map.
  • Summary text is now searched for locations** — the AI’s generated summary often names the place even when the body text doesn’t (especially for short photos and emails). The location-resolution step now feeds in summary + vision description + text so any of those mentions get caught.
  • Categories tab shows event counts** — each category now displays the number of events assigned to it, with a totals line below (“Total: N event(s) across X categories”). Orphan categories (events with category names not in the categories table) are also listed and marked. Auto-refreshes after every scan completion. New “Refresh Counts” button.
  • Configure AI / Settings” button now lands on Settings** — was hard-coded to tab index 4, which used to be Settings until the Locations tab was added in v1.5 and shifted everything. Now looks up the tab by name so it can’t drift again.
